Many people learn to fly for the opportunities that awaits them when they get their pilots licence. Learning to fly can be fun, educating, life fulfilling and to some a progressive step on an employment ladder. Finding the right flight training school can be an arduous task with their own sets of rules and regulations. Each school needs their students to meet certain criteria and the cost of learning to fly can be differential depending what school you attend.

Gaining your license can prove to be expensive so it is important to research your training schools and compare what you are getting at the end of the day. Some schools may base their prices on the FAA minimum time requirements, such as 40 hours for a private certificate. Others base their figure on a more realistic figure like the average time it takes for the average student to complete the necessary requirements. Watch out for those schools that do not include books and supplies, flight testing and FAA written examination fees.

It is also important to know that most schools require at least part payment or in some cases full payment before your training begins. Financing your training program will probably be the most challenging aspect you need to overcome. Some schools offer financing but AOPA members can be offered the Flights Fund Loan Program. All in all, it is essential you get the right advice. Please do not underestimate the fact that some schools charge outrageous fees so know what you are getting for the money you pay.
